I work in the healthcare system and even I have trouble finding how to do things and who to contact. It's very frustrating. It seems as though it will get worse in the future. Easier to deal with Medicare than with an HMO, which I find means healthy members only, since they want to only give minimal services. With Medicare it helps to have a supplemental insurance plan to cover the 20% MCR does not pay. Then you need a plan that helps pay for medications. The plan that President Bush pushed through so he could be reelected is a joke and does not help many consumers, unless they have little or no medication to take. If I were to take the discount plan the Republicans passed, I would get a whopping $1,600 off my medicines. At the present time, my medications, without my insurance, would cost approximately $800/mo. I would eat up the $1,600 in 2 months, then on my own the cost would be $8,000, plus the cost of the discount card. Now, the Prez is proposing that we should not be allowed to get our medications from Canada at a substantial discount. Then, there's the pharmaceutical industry, who should be ashamed of themselves for the huge amounts of money they have raked in all these years. They are so money-hungry they want yet more, at additional cost to the consumer, especially the middle class. I cannot be the only one out here that feels this way, yet we are apparently in the minority. We should do away with all the lobbyists. They are a big reason for all that's happening with medical care in our country. I wonder if there is anything we can do to take back our rights. I would be more than willing to get involved. Anyone else interested?
